Trade Journal & Trading Journal Online — Log Trades, Track P&L, Improve Edge
StockeZee is an online trade journal and free trading journal for Indian and global markets. Use it as a stock trading journal, options trading journal, futures / F&O trading journal, forex trading journal or crypto trading journal — then review net P&L, win rate, R-multiple, equity curve, trading psychology and broker CSV imports. It works as a day trading journal, swing trading journal, trading diary and trade log without spreadsheet chaos.
What is a trade journal (trading journal) and why do traders need one?
A trade journal (also called a trading journal, trading diary or trade log) is where you record every entry, exit, size, risk, setup and outcome so you can measure performance honestly. Spreadsheets break as volume grows; a dedicated trading journal tool keeps a P&L calendar, strategy tags, chart screenshots and analytics together. Whether you search for a free trade journal, best trading journal, or stock trade journal for NSE/F&O, structured journaling is how traders find edge and cut repeated mistakes.

How P&L and risk metrics are calculated in the trade journal
Gross P&L uses direction × (exit − entry) × quantity × contract multiplier, then subtracts fees and applies FX conversion to your base currency when needed. Risk amount uses distance from entry to stop × size × multiplier. R-multiple is net P&L divided by that risk amount when a stop is present. Win rate and expectancy use closed trades only. Open and planned trades stay in the trading journal for pipeline review but are excluded from closed-trade averages.
What a trading journal cannot do alone
- A trade journal records outcomes; it does not guarantee future profits or replace a tested strategy.
- Broker CSV formats differ — always verify imported prices, lots and fees before trusting analytics.
- Missing stops or incorrect multipliers distort R-multiple and risk metrics in any trading journal software.
- Psychology tags are self-reported; be honest or the trade review loop fails.
- Past equity curves do not predict future drawdowns; use them for process review, not overconfidence.
