How the Indicators Are Calculated
All indicators are computed from NSE price data: RSI uses the standard 14-period formula, MACD uses 12/26-period EMAs with a 9-period signal line, and moving averages are computed on closing prices. Pivot points and CPR levels derive from the previous session's high, low and close. Breadth (advances vs declines) counts all traded NSE stocks. Values refresh during market hours; each refresh is timestamped.
Common False Signals
- Oscillators like RSI whipsaw in sideways markets — an 'oversold' reading in a downtrend is not a buy signal by itself.
- Indicators are lagging by construction; they describe what price has done, not what it will do.
- Different timeframes can conflict (daily bullish, weekly bearish) — check the multi-timeframe view before concluding.
- Index-level strength with weak breadth (few stocks advancing) has historically been fragile — read the two together.
- Pivot/CPR levels are reference points many traders watch, not barriers; breaks and false breaks both happen regularly.
