FII DII Historical Data: The Day-by-Day Flow Archive
This page is the historical archive of FII and DII activity — every trading session's cash-market buying and selling plus derivatives positioning, in one browsable day-by-day series. Where the FII/DII dashboard answers 'what happened today?', this archive answers 'how did institutional flows behave over time?'
What the Archive Contains
For each trading day: FII and DII cash-market gross purchases, gross sales and net flow, alongside FII derivatives activity across index futures, index options, stock futures and stock options. Figures are the exchange-published numbers — provisional on the evening of the session, replaced by final custodian-reconciled data the next trading day.
What Historical Flows Are Useful For
- Trend confirmation: separating a one-day flow blip from a sustained multi-week institutional trend
- Event studies: how FII/DII behaviour developed around budgets, elections, Fed decisions and results seasons
- Absorption analysis: sessions where DII buying offset FII selling, and what indices did
- Seasonality research: month-end, expiry-week and quarter-end flow patterns
- Context for today: judging whether the current streak is unusual against its own history
How to Use the Archive
- Scan day cards from the most recent session backwards — each card shows cash and F&O side by side.
- Track streaks: consecutive buying or selling days matter more than any single print.
- Cross-reference big flow days with the Nifty's move that day to judge absorption.
- Jump to the live dashboard, cash deep-dive or long-short ratio pages for today's detail.
How These Figures Are Compiled
Daily flows are reported to the exchanges by custodians and published as provisional figures after each session, then finalised the following trading day. Net flow = gross purchases − gross sales per category. Derivatives figures come from NSE's end-of-day participant data. StockeZee stores each day's final print, so the archive reflects reconciled numbers rather than the initial provisional estimates.
Limitations
- Aggregate flows can't be mapped to individual stocks — stock-level FII changes come from quarterly shareholding filings.
- Derivatives positions mix hedging with direction; historical shorts were often portfolio protection, not bearish bets.
- Flow data describes what institutions did, not why — pair it with the market context of those dates.
- Very old provisional prints may differ slightly from final custodian data.
